What it is used for
Banks, phone companies, employers, schools and landlords ask for it as proof of your registration and address. Because the official form is bilingual, it is often accepted abroad without a separate translation — but check with the office that asked for it.
Get it online (free)
- Log in to Gov24 (see how to log in).
- Search for 외국인등록 사실증명.
- Choose 발급하기, fill in the form and choose 온라인발급(본인출력) to print it yourself.
Get it at a counter (₩2,000)
Bring your residence card or passport to the community service center (주민센터) or city/district office, or to the immigration office. At a 주민센터 it can take a while — up to around three hours — because staff confirm your details with immigration. Someone else can collect it for you with a power of attorney (위임장) and both people’s IDs.
