Getting a certificate in five steps
- Log in (see how to log in).
- Type the Korean name of the certificate in the search box — each guide on KoreaSum shows it with a copy button.
- On the service page, choose 발급하기 (issue) or 신청하기 (apply).
- Fill in the form. For 수령방법 choose 온라인발급(본인출력) to print it yourself.
- Open the document from your application history (신청내역) and print it or save it as a PDF.
Printed certificates carry a code that the receiving office can use to check them, so a home print is normally accepted.
About kiosks (무인민원발급기)
Unmanned kiosks in subway stations and city halls check your identity with a resident registration number and fingerprint (or a mobile ID). The multilingual kiosks some cities have installed issue Korean-citizen documents and public land and building registers. We found no official source saying a foreigner can print their own certificates — like the certificate of alien registration — at a kiosk, so use Gov24 or a counter.
If Gov24 is down
When Gov24 stopped working after a data-centre fire in September 2025, immigration offices issued immigration certificates at the counter instead (and waived the fee for a while). If a site is down, the same documents are available in person.
