What to check
- Foreign residents are enrolled automatically after 6 months in Korea. International students (D-2, and D-4 at primary, middle and high schools) are enrolled from the day they arrive.
- Pay by the 25th of the month before — set up automatic transfer if you can.
- Unpaid premiums can stop your hospital cover and can cause problems when you extend your visa.
- If you start a job, your employer enrols you and these bills stop — check that the last bill is cancelled.
- NHIS foreigner line: 033-811-2000 (English and other languages). General: 1577-1000.
